A COLLECTION OF SCOTTISH SNUFF MULLS, BROOCHES AND OTHER ITEMS
The first six early/mid 19th Century, the rest 20th Century
Six small snuff-mulls, each made from a curled horn and fitted with a stone-set silver lid, the largest mull fitted with a small cup, picker, rake and spoon, and an ivory mallet, all secured by small chains, another with lid engraved GNL. CARNEGIE AD 1814; together with three 20th century brooches, each consisting of a claw (probably that of a grouse); another brooch, in the form of a thistle, a scarf-ring; and two small clan-badges in silvered metal

Lot Essay
The inscription mentioned may refer to Nicholas Carnegie (promoted Local Major General in India, 1813). He was the only General officer of that name to appear in the 1814 Army List.
