Large 4to, contemporary red straight-grain morocco, panels with gilt borders and corner designs, gilt crowned monogram of Jerome Napoleon in the center of both covers, gilt flat back with green morocco label and the Imperial Eagle; blue silk doublures and end leaves with gilt borders, gilt edges. Provenance Jerome Napoleon, King of Westphalia (binding); G. Elliott (bookplate, with dedication dated 1909); Mae C. Rovensky (mounted slip). A very fine early 19th-century binding executed for Napoleon's brother Jerome while he was King of Westphalia (1807-1813).
