Panthère surprenant un zibeth, seconde version (Panther attacking a civet cat, second version)

This second version of Panthère surprenant un zibeth was first offered in Barye's 1857-8 catalogue. The modèle was acquired at the Atelier sale by the fondeur, Hippolyte Peyrol, and subsequently edited in two sizes, this cast being an example of the original smaller version. Towards the end of the 19th century, the edition was continued by Brame.
