Lot Essay

See note to previous lot. Interestingly, the reduced grooved base of this épreuve of the second version of Panthère saisissant un cerf follows that of the bronze modèle, first offered but unsold in the 1927 Zoubaloff sale (lot 187; illustrated), subsequently re-offered and sold in the 1929 Zoubaloff sale (lot 85, 53,000 francs), and more recently sold at Sotheby's Monaco, 5 March 1984, lot 760.
