A Meissen Punktzeit large oval ornithological tureen, cover and stand
Circa 1770, marked with underglaze blue crossed swords and 4, the stand with swords enclosing a dot, the tureen with Pressnummer 7
Painted in colours with various types of birds near marshy brooks, flanked by trees and shrubbery, further with insects and butterflies, the wavy border gilt with garlanded foliage, the bulging tureen with a frontal scene of a rooster and his hens and to the reverse with a scene of a peacock and his hens, the handles modelled as cornucopiae containing corn, the high domed cover en suite with a frontal scene of a turkey and two ducks and to the reverse with a scene of a heron and two white ducks, the finial modelled as a seated putto emptying a horn of plenty, with applied flowerheads and strawberries, the two-handled stand with a scene of fowl clapping its wings, the handles modelled as leaves in slight relief
