A GROUP OF COPTIC TEXTILE TUNIC FRAGMENTS
CIRCA 8TH-10TH CENTURY A.D.
Comprising a monochrome decorative band with frieze of lions within octagons; a band with stylized lions, birds, fish and plants; another with frieze of reddish-purple rosettes, each with central cross, details in cream, 9¾ in. (24.7 cm.) long max.; a square panel with central lion within a star, dark brown, 3 7/8 in. (9.8 cm.) across; a panel with twin monochrome short bands each composed of stripes with three central roundels containing animals, 9½ in. (24.2 cm.) long; and a fragmentary figure holding fruit(?), heads of two others below, light brown background, framed and glazed, 4 in. (10.1 cm.) long (6)
