The mark of a lower case 'y' placed at a distance from the factory mark is found on the present tray and on the similarly decorated sugar-bowl and cover offered as the following lot. Sven Eriksen and Geoffrey de Bellaigue tentatively attribute the mark, found on pieces dated 1752-1758 and painted with landscapes, birds or chinoiserie, to P-F Yvernel. The dots found top and bottom of the interlaced L's are likely also ideocincratic of this painter.
