(Lacks advertisement leaves at end of vol. one, occasional light spotting.) Contemporary half calf, spines gilt with 2 lettering-pieces (joints and edges lightly rubbed). FIRST EDITION. PRESENTATION COPY, the title page of vol. one inscribed: "To Stick in the Mud", and signed with Burton's Arabic signature; additionally signed "Al-Kaptan" in Arabic (Burton was a captain in the Indian army).
