An Indian silver repousse Mukha-Linga (mask cover)
Maharashtra, 19th century
depicting the Hindu God Shiva in the form of Vira, a warrior, the face with bulging eyes, thick lips and moustache, the head elaborately ornamented with a stylised crown shaped like a amalaka with surmounted spherical knop finial, wearing naga earrings and lingayat necklace -- 7in. (17.7cm.) high, (minor wear).
