Charles Ahrens was a prolific maker of amusement machines duirng the 1920s, and by the early 1930s had become one of the largest manufacturers in the country. He was well known for both the quality of his machines and his trademark large working models, including the popular 'Our Firefighters' and 'English Execution'. Compared to the output from other makers of the same period, Ahrens produced a limited number of popular themes, although what he lacked in range was more than made up for by the sheer size of his special exhibition pieces.
