A 'Convicts' working model
coin-operated automaton of a prison with brick-painted facade, two doors and a jailer, a balcony above with railings and double doors, in glazed oak case with coin-drawer and recessed panels, the electric motor driving six wood cams causing the jailer to turn as each door opens individually to reveal a lighted interior with articulated carved and painted wood figures: a prisoner making net, prisoner on a treadmill, and another being whipped - (32¼in. (82cm.) high, (originally with clockwork motor), circa 1900.
