A Minton pâte-sur-pâte plate
Year cypher for 1871, impressed marks
Decorated in the manner of Marc Louis Solon with 'Diable', depicting a nymph wearing loose drapes, seated with one foot resting on a stool, holding the lid of a jack-in-the-box out of which springs Cupid, on a black ground, within a sea-green band decorated with blue foliage and fan-shaped flowers within blue concentric lines issuing gilt vertical ornament, gilt dentil rim (minor surface scratches and rubbing to gilding)
9 in. (23.5 cm.) diam.

This plate is probably after a 'Diable' plate decorated by Marc Louis Solon for the Vienna International Exhibition of 1873.
