A SWISS ENAMEL AND GOLD SNUFF-BOX
Neuchâtel, circa 1820/1830, partly rubbed marks including maker's mark 'GT', struck with inventory no. '1844'.
Rectangular box with rounded corners, the cover inset with a rectangular enamel miniature painted with a classical scene depicting a young lady with a child, pointing at an inscription on a rock, within a narrow gold mount cast with stylized acanthus and bordered by a blue enamel fillet, flanked by two rows of horizontal reeding, both ends stamped and enamelled in blue with foliate scrolls on vertical matted bands, the panels on sides and base engine-turned with a pattern of floating lozenges framed by blue enamel bands, the four corners of the sides cast with foliage on matted rectangles, plain gold rims
