Bernard Molitor, maître in 1787.
A remarkable ébéniste, Bernard Molitor arrived in Paris in 1776. After obtaining his maîtrise, Molitor began his career with a few court commissions, but he mainly produced luxurious and extremely well made furniture for the aristocracy, such as the richly ornate ormolu-mounted furniture executed for the duc de Choiseul-Praslin.
Two related mahogany consoles are illustrated in U. Leben, Molitor, London, 1992, p.193, figs.85 and 85c.
