Decorated at the centre en grisaille with details in iron-red and gilt in a roundel with a gentleman seated on a chair beside a bed watching a scantily-clothed lady undressing beside a table on which a candle flickers, the well inscribed in gilt MARETIEVANBEME below a narrow gilt scroll band, the du Paquier-style grisaille and gilt border enclosing four landscape cartouches in which some of the details are picked out in sepia
