Blade honzukuri, iorimune, koshi-zori with ko-kissaki, forging pattern mokume of nie, tempered edge ko-gunome in suguha style, komaru-boshi, tang ubu with one hole, tachi-mei, nagasa 27¾in. (70.4cm.), in a gold nashiji lacquer itomaki no tachi koshira-e with paulownia and chrysanthemum crests in takamaki-e and gold foil, the hilt covered in red brocade silk wrapped in brown woven silk tapes forming a lozenge pattern; the metal fittings all fine gold, worked in relief with the same crests on a nanako ground; the tsuba similarly decorated, of typical tachi-mokko form, 19th century, overall length 40in. (101.5cm.), with wooden storage box
