Of standard form with a slightly domed, flush-fitting lid, straight sides and rounded corners, the exterior, apart from the gold nashiji base, completely covered in an unusual textured gold-lacquer ground, decoration in gold, silver and coloured takamaki-e and hiramaki-e with gold and silver kirikane depicting flowering cherry-trees in the hills of Yoshino to the south of Kyoto, the interior rich gold nashiji, silver rims, slight wear to base and a small chip on the riser
