HITLER'S HANDWRITING

A polite thanks to the co-author of a book which became the foundation for scientific handwriting analysis: "I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your interesting little book (interressantes Büchlein). It was interesting to me that it is possible to classify handwriting in such an exhaustive manner. I also appreciated that you were able to separate out so clearly the objective characteristics from the purely 'intuitive,' which theory, by the way, whould not be much discredited in the case of Hitler (das übrigens durch Hitler nicht zur selve in Misskredit geraten sollte)."

Thea Lewinson was a Berliner who had escaped Nazi Germany; the book which Einstein approvingly acknowledges is Lewinson and Joseph Zubin. Handwriting Analysis: A Series of Scales for Evaluating the Dynamic Aspects of Handwriting, New York, 1942.
