A large Castelli charger
First quarter of the 18th Century
Finely painted with The Triumph of St. Cecilia, her arms outstreched and kneeling on a cloak held taught by an angel, ascending into heaven through an opening in the clouds and accompanied by winged angels and cherubs holding musical scores, palms, laurels, an organ and a sword, within brown and ochre bands at the well, the blue-ground border reserved with two putti supporting a large pendant garland of flowers and fruit suspended from a mask and strapwork at the top, the bottom centred by another female mask and strapwork flanked by two winged cherubs below cornucopiae, within a brown and ochre line rim (minute chipping to rim, very slight chipping to glaze on underside of rim)
