An Urbino istoriato charger Circa 1600
Painted with the naked Andromeda chained to rocks at the foot of a cliff overloking the sea, a tree clinging to the rocks above her before a distant town on top of the cliffs beyond, Perseus descending from the sky with winged sandals and a winged helmet, with a circular shield and wielding a large sword, a large winged dragon in the sea below rearing up towards him, a town in the distance to the left, the border with grotteschi divided by stags, cornucopia and vases of flowers within an ochre and brown stylised foliage band rim (minor chipping to glaze at rim, slight hairline crack to part of centre and well visible on reverse)
