A Meissen gilt-metal mounted circular snuff-box
Circa 1740
The sides of the box richly gilt, the gold-ground cover reserved with a moulded white trophy emblematic of Victory, with a banner, garlands of flowers and fronds of palm and myrtle, the base of the box painted and stippled with a small skirmish in a wooded landscape, with three soldiers in green uniforms firing on four soldiers with red cloaks, the interior of the cover with a battle scene with cavalry officers fighting with swords and pistols on horseback (cover glued to secure it to mount)
