A George IV red boulle tortoiseshell and ormolu-mounted striking small mantel clock
Litherland Davies & Co., Liverpool. Circa 1825
The contre-partie boulle case with gilt-brass handle and four part-milled ormolu urn finials to the architectural top, with arched gilt-brass lined side panels and conforming rear door, applied brass lines to the chamfered front angles, the plinth base raised on milled ormolu bun feet, with stiff leaf cast sight ring to an arched and engine-turned ormolu dial applied with a white enamel Roman chapter ring, with outer engraved dot minute markers, blued steel moon hands (partial loss to minute), the five pillar movement with arched plates and twin chain fusees with anchor escapement, with strike on bell to the back plate signed Litherland Davies & Co.LIVERPOOL, pendulum holdfast now lacking
