Lot Essay

The present clock has unusually small and elegant proportions and was almost certainly made by one of the best London clockmakers. The plinth has an excellent colour mahogany with neat and well designed mouldings. The mirrored backboard shows off the pendulum nicely and the carving beneath the dial is of the best quality for the period. The thickness of the movement plates and pillars, in conjunction with the excellent quality of the wheelwork, pinions and escapement, confirm that this is a regulator of exceptional quality
