An English mahogany small quarter-chiming longcase clock, second quarter 20th century
The hood with blind-fret swan neck cresting and outset part-reeded columns, sound frets to the sides, with fluted half columns on blind-fret blocks to the trunk, conforming decoration to the angles of plinth with raised panel and on bracket feet, the 9in. dial with silvered Roman chapter ring, strike/silent lever by III, inscribed on a plaque in the arch Tempus Fugit, the eight day triple barrel movement with anchor escapement, Westminster quarter chiming on four long rod gongs via four hammers and with hour strike also on four rod gongs struck simultaneously by four hammers -- 72¼in. (183.5cm.) high
