The hood with stepped pediment and brass-capped columns, moulded frame to trunk door, on panelled and stepped plinth, the 8in. square brass dial with gilt-brass floral scroll spandrels to silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring signed Will.m Abdy/LONDON, the centre engraved with a basket of fruit and with lunette date disc, with false plate to the eight day movement with four pillars, anchor escapement and rack strike on bell; composite, case and movement late 19th century -- 71½in. (182cm.) high
