the gilt chain fusee two train movement with turned pillars, verge escapement, monometallic balance with diamond endstone, pierced and engraved cock, foot and furniture, silvered regulator disc, striking hours on a bell, repeating quarters by depressing the pendant, with signed dust cover, the white dial with Turkish numerals and gold beetle and poker hands, chased and pierced inner case with strike/silent lever in the bezel, the pierced and enamelled outer case centred with maritime scene and translucent and polychrome enamel surround, enamelled pie-crust rims to the case and bezel, diameter 56mm.

George Prior was born 1782. He moved to London in 1822 and built up a considerable business in supplying watches to the Ottoman Empire, at the time one of the wealthiest markets in the Middle East. He died in 1830.
