An Earthenware Vase
Meiji period (late 19th century), gilt mark Kozan ga, blue enamel Shimazu family crest,
painted in polychrome enamels and gilt over a clear crackled glaze with two irregularly-shaped panels of confronted phoenixes and a pair of fish below a mythical beast, and two smaller panels of peonies and chrysanthemums behind a fence, the foot decorated with band of lappets containing floral scrolls and the neck with similar lappets and brocade
