With a molded, racheted support formed of a frame with two vertical uprights and a hinged back support, all of which fit flush into the openwork case, with baitong corner mounts
assembled 13½in. (34.3cm.) high, 16in. (40.6cm.) wide, 16 5/8in. (42.2cm.) deep

Lot Essay

Stands of this type were popular for calligraphy practice in the Ming and Qing periods, as discussed by Tian Jiaqing, Classic Chinese Furniture of the Qing Dynasty, Hong Kong, 1996, p. 260, no. 121. Compare a similar huanghuali folding stand sold in these rooms, 16 September 1999, lot 109.
