The manuscript invokes the protective poses of the 7 Matrika Goddesses, the female counterparts of the 7 chief male gods of the Hindu pantheon, to avert harmful astrological influences. Each section with miniature occupies one opening of the book:
1. Varahi seated on boar holding two lotuses.
2. Brahmani seated on a hamsa holding two lotuses.
3. Mahesvari seated on a goat-like bull holding a kila.
4. Narasimhi seated on a lion holding a bow and arrow.
5. Aindri seated on Airavata, lord of elephans, holding a vajra.
6. Vaisnavi (?)
7. Kaumari seated on a peacock (more commonly depicted as a cock), holding a trident.
