A Hamano School Soroimono (Set of Sword Fittings)
Edo period (18th -19th century), the fuchi signed Shozui (Hamano Shozui [1696-1796]), the kashira signed Juo Masayoshi go tai (Made by Masayoshi by request to accompany [the fuchi]) (Iwama Masayoshi [1764-1837])
The set comprising fuchi-kashira and menuki patinated in shakudo with gold and copper details, the fuchi carved with a bear emerging from its den, the kashira a bear foraging through underbrush, the menuki each formed as bears with cubs

With Tokubetsu Hozon Tosogu (Sword-Fitting Particularly Worthy of Preserving) certificate no. 221098, dated 1991.4.5 for the fuchi-kashira and a Hozon Tosogu (Sword-Fitting Worthy of Preserving) certificate no. 424427, dated 1991.4.5 for the menuki which attributes the menuki to Masayoshi, both issued by the Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kyokai (Society for the Preservation of the Japanese Art Sword) and also a certificate for the fuchi-kashira, no. 2885 and the menuki, no. 2887, both issued by the Nihon Token Hozen Kyokai (Society for the Preservation of the Japanese Sword) and dated 1985.6.17
