This Qur'an is sold with a note written by Abdul Kadir the son of the Sultan Abdul Hamid stating in French that this Qur'an is from the library of his father.
The colophon, in addition to giving a genealogy of the scribe says that the manuscript was copied in the haramat al-nabi, in other words in Mecca. It is for this reason, perhaps, that this relatively modest Qur'an found its way into the library of the Ottoman Sultan.
