Contemporary calf, spine gilt (spine and covers a bit worn and dried). Provenance: F.W.T. Hunger (bookplate); purchased from Rousseau Girard, 1962.
FIRST EDITION of one of the most attractive of the seventeenth-century Dutch gardening books, with plates reminiscent of de Passe. The book depicts Vranckryck's garden at Saint-Germain en Laye and that of Nassau, Prince of Orange. As often, it is here bound with Commelin's Nederlantze Hesperides, issued the same year by Doornik.
