Blue interlaced L's enclosing date letters hh for 1785, painter's mark for Vincent Taillandier, gilder's mark for Boileau le jeune
The oviform pot with a band of foliate scrolls on the shoulder above the sky-blue ground decorated with oeil-de-perdrix, the cover with gilt berry finial, similarly decorated in concentric bands, gilt line rims
4 3/4in. (12cm.) high

Lot Essay

Vincent Taillandier is recorded at Vincennes and Sèvres as a flower painter 1753-1790. He is also associated with ground colours, his name being given to the oeil-de-perdrix pattern that he developed and used on the present teapot.

Boileu le jeune is recorded as a gilder at Sèvres 1783-1789
