A DAUNIAN POTTERY QUADRUPLE SITULA
3RD CENTURY B.C., CANOSA
The four conjoined ovoid jars with central looped handle, painted in red and dark brown, with bands, running scrolls and chevrons, each jar with a star on the base, traces of pink colour, one jar repaired; and a pottery askos, the body with tall vertical cylindrical neck, arching strap handle and pinched 'duck-tail', painted in dark brown and reddish-brown, with bands, a frieze of wavy line and offset striations around the middle body, a 'fir-tree' motif flanked by offset striations on the spout's neck, circa first half of 4th Century B.C.
3 5/8 in. (9.2 cm.) and 5½ in. (14 cm.) high respectively (2)
