A fine 18th-Century table thermometer,
mounted on a finely carved ivory tower, on a turned wooden base, with a tall glass dome -- 28.5cm. (11¼in.) high

The thermometer has Fahrenheit and Reaumur scales and is marked at the appropriate points Freezing, Temperate, Sumr heat and Blood heat. The base and the top of the spire unscrew. The wooden base is ebonised and has a small crack.
