Lot Essay

See Bernard Bumpus, Pâte-sur-Pâte, London, 1992, p. 120 where the author notes that Solon's 1878 contract with Minton specifically mentions the fact that he was allowed to produce his own plaques, in his own time but had to give Minton the first right of refusal. These plaques were noted in a record book which has subsequently disappeared.
