A FINE BLUE AND WHITE QUATRELOBED 'DRAGON' JAR
WANLI SIX-CHARACTER MARK WITHIN A DOUBLE CIRCLE AND OF THE PERIOD (1573-1619)
The jar is formed of four lobes, the gently rounded body rising to the in-turned mouth rim, one panel decorated with an ascending dragon in pursuit of a 'flaming pearl' amidst clusters of ruyi clouds, the remaining three panels each similarly designed with a descending dragon, above rolling waves breaking against rockwork around the base, bordering the short circular foot ring with a band of classic scrolls
