A Minton majolica heron and pike ewer
Year cypher for 1867, impressed marks, shape no. 1241, incised H. PROTAT signiature to base
Modelled by Hugues Protat, the bird naturally modelled with grey, blue and white plumage, standing among reeds and lily pads on an oval mound base, with a fish in its beak forming the handle and spout of the ewer (minor chipping to crest and feet)
21½ in. (54.5 cm.) high
