BINDINGS -- TACITUS, Caius Cornelius (55-117 A.D.). Opera quae extant omnia. 24° (120 x 62mm). Engraved frontispiece by I. Schenk. Contemporary vellum, lettered at head of spine, decorated in watercolour and ink with an art nouveau floral design by Kozma Lajos (1884-1948), his initials on lower cover, red edges, modern cloth box. A Hungarian artist and architect, Lajos took an interest in all aspects of book production, painting numerous bindings with elements and motifs from Transylvanian folk art.

Fougeron, signed on spine, covers tooled with a semé of hedgehogs and ermine spots within a lattice framework and enclosing a small coat-of-arms on upper cover, hedgehog repeated on spine, floral silk endpapers, gilt edges.
