THE 1715 REBELLION -- The Jacobite Hopes, or Perkin Rideing in Triumph. [?London: ?1715]. Engraved broadside, oblong folio (223 x 285mm). Modern boards. The engraving shows the Old Pretender in a chariot drawn by '2 asses, 2 tygers and 2 dragons,' and a procession of 'Jesuits, Monks & Friers' by his side led by the Pope. With explanatory verse couplets in 3 columns. 'Long has Britannia's Empire firmly stood/Like some tall pine that over tops a Wood.' APPARENTLY UNRECORDED IN ESTC. Not in Foxon.
The Earl of Mar's Declaration about the Pretender with his letter to his Baillie at Kildrummy, from the London Gazette, September 24th 1715. [London printed and Edinburgh reprinted by Margaret Reid, [1715]. Broadside, 2° (320 x 184mm), printed on both sides. APPARENTLY UNRECORDED. -- A Copy of Three Letters, giving an Account of the Total Defeat of the Rebels at Prestoun in Lancashire. [Edinburgh: November 16 1715]. Broadside, 2° (319 x 195mm), printed on one side. The letters signed respectively: Jos. Parker, Tho. Stanwix and Robert Corbet. 7 copies located. -- List of the most considerable of the Scots and English noblemen and gentlemen, with the number of their servants taken prisoners at Preston 13th of November 1715. Edinburgh: John Moncur, 1715. 2°, whole sheet, printed on one side. Title given in ESTC begins 'A list' but otherwise conforms; just 4 copies recorded. -- A Leter [sic] from Mr. Forrester Briggadier of His Majesties Forces, to his Grace the Earl of Mar. [s.n., 1715]. Broadside, 2° (3 30 x 170mm), printed on one side. Provenance: Britwell Court Library (note in Lord Perth's hand pasted onto verso). AN APPARENTLY UNRECORDED SATIRE. Thomas FORSTER (?1675-1738), the Old Pretender's General, surrendered at Preston when in command of the rebel army, but escaped from Newgate, 1716, to France. In this satirical letter, supposedly written by him, Preston is represented as a victory for the Jacobites; and 3 others similar, including a Declaration by James Edward in Italian (Forli, 1715) and a [?]1706 proclamation of Queen Anne against 'tumultary and irregular meetings' (?imperfect).
