Having four Renaissance style ornaments, each with two cherub heads flanking a rose above a fleur de lis, interspersed with four rectangular panels of fine scrollwork
4½in. (11.5cm.) diameter; 4in. (10cm.) high

Lot Essay

The foundry which produced this mortar was very prolific and is believed to be East Anglian, though the exact location is yet to be established.
