This mirror was described in the Duchess of Kent sale as:
'A CHIPPENDALE MIRROR, in gilt frame carved with flowers and foliage and with a canvas panel at the top painted with birds in the manner of Bogdani - 8 ft high, 6 ft wide'.
Patterns for related 'Chimney Galsses and Picture Frames' in the George II 'picturesque' manner were published in M. Lock's New Book of Ornaments, 1752 and T. Chippendale's Gentleman and Cabinet-Maker's Director, 1754, A related overmantel from Glyne Castle, Wales, was advertised by E. T. Biggs & Sons Ltd. in The Connoisseur, June 1962.
