NICOLAUS DE LYRA (?1270-?1340). Moralia super totam Bibliam. Mantua: Paulus de Butzbach, 29 April 1481.

Chancery 2° (270 x 190mm). Illuminated by a contemporary north-Italian artist, first initial in magenta and blue on gold ground with floral extension and gold circles, other initials alternating in red and blue. Modern boards covered with a calligraphic document, fragments from a 14th-century Italian choir book on vellum with foliate initials as pastedowns, author's name lettered in an early hand on lower edges. Provenance: Don Octavius Feragnus of Casal Maggiore (note dated Cremona 4 February 1598, giving cost of the book [2 lira 5 solidi] and binding [1 lira 10 solidi]).
