A FRENCH ENAMELLED FOUR-COLOUR GOLD SNUFF-BOX FOR THE ORIENTAL MARKET
Paris, circa 1840, with the third standard mark for gold, France 1838-1918
Satchel-shaped rectangular gold box with convex front and rear sides, cover and base parcel-enamelled with flowers and fruit on a pink ground and chased with flower baskets, flowers and scrolls on a matted ground, front and rear sides enamelled in turquoise decorated with taille d'épargne scrolls, all four sides enamelled with pink reserves painted with trophies and Turkish and Swiss lakescape views including Geneva on the rear side, bright-cut gold rims
