A pair of Berlin oviform vases and covers
Circa 1786, blue sceptre marks, one with Dreher's to footrims
The central and upper parts moulded with vertical reeds, each stippled en grisaille with portrait medallions of the Prussian Kings Frederick The Great and Frederick William II within moulded gilt ribbon-tied laurel wreaths suspended from raised gilt-edged bands of moulded gilt foliage scrolls at the shoulders, the reverses with similar pendant medallions of grisaille trophies emblematic of the War and Peace, each with the sceptre of Prussia, the lower parts moulded and gilt with up-turned stiff-leaves below bands of moulded gilt beaded ornament, the finials of the domed covers formed as richly gilt eagles clutching branches of laurel in their claws (one cover cracked and with eagle finial chipped, one eagle finial with part of wing lacking, some minor rubbing to gilding)
