TWO SILVER-HILTED SMALL-SWORDS
The first late 18th Century
The first with earlier rapier blade of flattened diamond section stamped 'Tomas Daleles' within the single fuller on each side of the forte, the hilt with solid oval shell inscribed on the underside 'Dum Spiro Spero' above a crowned thistle, and decorated in imitation of cut-steel involving stars of an Order; the second with hollow triangular blade with etched decoration at the forte, and spirally fluted boatshell hilt, the grip bound with plaited silver wire
