TWO CONTINENTAL SMALL-SWORDS WITH PIERCED AND CHISELLED STEEL HILTS
Each third quarter of the 18th Century
The first with slender blade of hollow triangular section etched with scrollwork, a trophy of arms, and the figure of Victory at the forte, the parcel-gilt boatshell hilt (some wear and pitting) decorated with scrollwork and trophies of arms heightened with applied silver figures, the grip with later binding of copper wire; the second with colichemarde blade of hollow triangular section, the parcel-gilt hilt decorated with scenes of the chase in architectural landscapes (some pitting), the grip bound with silver ribbon and plaited copper wire
