A SMALL-SWORD WITH GILT-BRONZE HILT
Circa 1750, probably French
With tapering blade of hollow triangular section (surface pitted) with etched and gilt decoration at the forte (worn), the hilt with double-shell guard and finely pierced, cast and chased with masks and Classical trophies in relief within borders of interlaced strapwork studded with faceted beads, the grip bound with silver ribbon and plaited silver wire and fitted with unusual pierced gilt-bronze "Turk's heads"
