A FINE FRENCH SMALL-SWORD WITH CHISELLED STEEL HILT
Circa 1760
With tapering blade of hollow triangular section etched and gilt on each face of the forte with scrolls and strapwork and an oval panel containing a basket of fruit and flowers, the hilt decorated in relief with scrollwork and rocailles framing birds and animals including hounds and game, all on a gilt fish-roe ground, the grip bound with silver wire and crimped silver-plated ribbon (plating worn)
