A FINE SMALL-SWORD WITH GOLD-ENCRUSTED HILT
Early 18th Century, probably French
With slender blade of hollow triangular section with etched and gilt decoration on each face of the forte (gilding worn, minor pitting), the iron hilt finely decorated with trails of flowers and foliage, birds, animals, and a female figure in contemporary costume, all framed in lines of pellets (slight wear and minor losses), the grip covered with cloth and bound with plaited and twisted silver wire
